The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) Pass Program allows the non-traveling public to visit SAT and enjoy the amenities on the post-security side of the passenger terminal.

Obtaining an SAT Pass allows our visitors to spend more time with their friends and family or shop and dine at the airport.

How does SAT Pass work?

You can apply the day of your visit or up to seven days in advance. At this time, SAT Pass is limited. If you cannot select a date on the online form, that means the visitor slots are full for that day.

Check that your information is accurate and provide your full legal name (exactly as it appears on your passport or driver’s license), date of birth, and your sex. You’ll receive a confirmation email verifying that your request has been received.

Your application will be reviewed and approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

  • If you’re applying in advance: You’ll receive an email with your approval status after midnight on the day of your visit.
  • If you’re applying for same day entrance: You’ll receive an email with your approval status within 15 minutes.

If approved for entry, you’ll receive your SAT Pass attached to your approval notification e-mail. When entering the TSA Checkpoint, make sure to open the SAT Pass attachment to provide to the TSA, along with your TSA-approved photo ID. Make sure to advise the TSA Officer that you have an SAT Pass when presenting your photo ID, those without the approval email and SAT Pass will be denied entry.

SAT Pass participants must enter using the TSA Checkpoint general screening line. SAT Pass access is only valid on the approved date from the approved start time through 9:00 pm.

FAQs

This is a permanent program with no expected end date. However, SAT reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel the program or modify program rules at any time without prior notice.

This program allows access to the post-security side to non-traveling visitors seven days a week. Entrance is not permitted before the approved start time.

Be sure to allow enough time to get through the security lines. You may exit and re-enter the passenger terminal at any time during your registered day and program operating hours. However, if you depart the post-security area, you are required to re-enter through the TSA Security Checkpoint, so please plan accordingly. Visitors re-entering the passenger terminal may be delayed at the TSA Checkpoint due to the priority of screening ticketed passengers.

Operating times vary, and not all shops, restaurants or amenities may be open during your visit.

Any valid form of identification accepted by TSA can be used for SAT Pass, including licenses from other states and U.S. and international passports.

SAT Pass users are subject to the same security regulations as ticketed passengers and access is granted by TSA.

  • All prohibited items as well as liquids and aerosol cans apply to SAT Pass holders. Bringing any of these prohibited items could mean that they are confiscated or you are denied access to the airport.
  • Please bring only one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or bag through the security checkpoint.
  • You can apply the same day you want to enter, or up to seven days in advance.
  • If applying in advance, you will receive an email with your approval status after midnight on the day of your visit.
  • If applying for same day entrance, you will receive an email with your approval status within 15 minutes.
  • If approved, bring your digital SAT Pass in your email and your TSA approved ID to the appropriate passenger terminal (Terminal A or B) at the approved start time.
  • Please do not arrive with an expectation of entering a passenger terminal unless you have received and approved SAT Pass via email.
Please apply online up to seven days in advance. You can apply the same day that you want to visit if the daily quota has not already been met.
If you’re unable to select a specific date up to seven days before your visit, it means the program availability for that day has already been met. We hope that you will come for a visit on a different day. Just complete a new application up to seven days before your visit.

This program does not apply to most passengers arriving directly from destinations outside the United States, because they must clear U.S. Customs at their first point of entry in the U.S. The area where international passengers go through Customs is secure and only accessible to international travelers.
You can meet passengers arriving from most international destinations outside security at the Baggage Claims level in Terminal A near the Customs & Border Protection area, so you do not need to request a SAT Pass.
