Volunteers in Airport
Policing

In order to provide a safe and secure environment for the traveling public and employees, the Airport Police Department implemented a volunteer program known as Volunteers in Airport Policing, or V.A.P.

The idea is to recruit and train community volunteers to support current law enforcement and security personnel and place them in positions where they could be extra eyes and ears for the Airport Police.

Some of the V.A.P. volunteer duties will consist of

  • recognizing and reporting security violations and suspicious activity
  • patrol the parking areas
  • patrol the terminals and perimeter
  • issue handicap parking violations
  • assist in special projects and unusual occurrences
  • administrative support.

In addition to increasing security, the program will also help enhance the division customer service level.

The V.A.P. program is now actively seeking qualified volunteers. For more information about the program please view the Volunteers in Airport Policing Brochure or contact the Program Coordinator at 210.207.3498.
